The Manuka Sale


It's been a long, hot summer. Personally, I'm looking forward to the cooler months. I was decorating for the front porch Fall yesterday (you know, pumpkins, mums, cornstalks) and was reminded of the first time I ever really needed to use our Manuka Honey Salve.

We were renovating our house, getting ready to put the front porch on. And my sweet boy, Ryker, really likes to "help" his dad. He's a 90lb GSD and demands to be involved in... everything. Even when he's guided away from the edges of the construction area at least once every 10 minutes.

If you're squeamish, skip this part. A piece of scrap wood was tossed off the roof, and Ryker was unfortunately there to catch it with his snout. There was a lot of blood. I did my best to stay calm (despite my panic) so I wouldn't make him nervous, and held a cloth on his face to slow the bleeding. He wasn't actually concerned - at all - and tried to break away to go get his ball.

When it stopped gushing, I scanned the wound, debating whether to drive him to the emergency vet or if I could do anything for him here. The area, in my opinion, wouldn't have been easily sutured, and I realized he would pop them immediately.

I held the cloth on for a few more minutes, and then grabbed our Manuka Honey Salve (luckily, I always have some on hand because, well, I make it here on our farm). I dabbed a glob on and the bleeding stopped. He ran away and got his ball.

I applied it every day, twice a day, for 3 weeks. The deep wound was closed by the end of week 2 and all of the inflammation and redness was gone by week three. I kept applying it every few days even after it was "healed" to reduce scar tissue and help the hair grow back.

Today, there's no visible scar, except for maybe on my dog-mom heart. He forgot about it pretty quickly, but I think of it every time I make the salve. When people ask what my favorite and most-used product is, it's always this salve.

When you have animals, it's a given that they're going to hurt themselves. They're going to get cuts, rashes, maybe some hot spots... and this salve takes care of them all.

Yes! Our recyclable PET plastic bottles are BPA free and rated for food and beverage contact.

Do you use eco-friendly shipping materials?

We do! Our shipping boxes and plastic-free paper "bubble wrap" are reusable and recyclable.

Where do your ingredients and materials come from?

We source our ingredients from U.S. based small businesses. It is especially important to us that the suppliers we partner with practice sustainable acquisition, as well as perform routine purity testing.
